MULTAN:
The election tribunal in Multan accepted former MNA Jamshed Dasti’s nomination papers for NA-177 and NA-178 constituencies in Muzaffargarh, Express News reported on Monday.
Dasti’s nomination papers for the two constituencies were earlier rejected by returning officers over allegations of possessing a fake degree.
On April 4, Dasti was disqualified from elections, slammed with a three year sentence in jail and Rs 5,000 penalty by the Muzaffargarh District and Sessions court on account of having a fake degree.
Later on, the Lahore High Court Multan Bench ordered the release of former Dasti and declared the three-year jail term handed to him as null and void.
The former MNA will contest from NA-177 against Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Noor Rabbani Khar and in NA-178 against PPP’s Nawabzada Iftikhar Ahmed khan.
