Militants detonated a bomb near a network of the main electricity transmission tower in Kharki area Jamrud, Khyber Agency on Sunday resulting in the suspension of power supply to Landikotal.



Asmatullah Wazir, an official of the political administration said unidentified militants planted two bombs at the network of the 132 kilovolt transmission tower and detonated them in the early hours of the morning. He added the tower situated behind the Jamrud Bazaar was destroyed in the explosion.

Wazir said when the khasadars reached the site they found that one of the bombs had exploded while the second one had not. The bomb disposal squad officials  defused it.

An official of the Tribal Areas Electric Supply Company in Landikotal told journalists that power supply to Khyber Agency had been disrupted adding it would take a couple of days to restore it.
