An anti-terrorism court on Saturday acquitted two members of banned militant outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), Walid Akber and Akramullah.
On November 24, 2012, nine persons were killed and 26 others were injured when a roadside bomb placed in a pressure cooker went off. The bomb targeted a 9th Moharram procession in Toi Fazal, DI Khan city.
Later, DI Khan police told media personnel during a news conference that suspects Ikramullah and Akber, who was a police constable, were arrested in a raid. Police said two suicide jackets and explosive materials were also recovered in the operation.
Police also told journalists Akber and Akramullah had revealed during interrogation they were members of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. According to police officials, Akber was called Danyal while Ikramullah was known as Usman within the organisation.
