Anti-polio drive: Vaccination drive kicks off in G-B

Nearly 1,016 mobile teams have also been constituted for the drive that will end on April 17.

GILGIT: A fresh anti-polio drive kicked off in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) on Friday.

G-B Minister for Health  Haji Gulbar Khan inaugurated the campaign by administering polio drops to a child present at a ceremony held in a local hotel.

Secretary Health Dr Faisal Zahoor and other officials of the health department were also present at the event.

“A total of 217,439 children below the age of five will be vaccinated in G-B during this campaign,” said Dr Iqbal Rasool, campaign in-charge.

Rasool told the audience 337 centres have been set up along with 375 supervisors appointed to ensure a proper drive.

Nearly 1,016 mobile teams have also been constituted for the drive that will end on April 17.
