LAHORE:

The digital media campaigns for Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, which has more than 87,000 followers on Twitter and more than 522,000 ‘likes’ on Facebook, are run by more than 50 volunteers, based all around the world.

This was stated by a three-member team which, on Thursday, briefed final year MBA students at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) on the party’s digital media campaign.

Imran Ghazali, Fuad Ghazanfar and Jibran Ilyas comprised the team, said a press release.

Ilyas said that though the other political parties had tried to reach out to the youth by setting up accounts on Facebook and Twitter, the PTI still led the way because of some of its projects: its official iPhone and Android mobile applications, Insaf Radio and Insaf TV.

Ghazanfar talked about the party’s telephony campaign, which he said, compensates for the lack of digital reach in rural areas.

He said that the party had told people about the Lahore Tabdeeli Razakar Convention through SMS and social media, adding that it was a ‘full house’.

He also said the party could conduct instant opinion polls via SMS.
