PESHAWAR:
Former provincial minister and Awami National Party (ANP) candidate for NA-4 Arbab Ayub Jan narrowly escaped a roadside bomb blast on GT Road on the outskirts of Peshawar Thursday evening.
The device had been fitted in a bicycle that was parked by the roadside. Jan escaped the attack by a few seconds as his vehicle – which was damaged as a result of the attack – had just passed when the explosion occurred. He was escorted by a gunman and driver who also remained unhurt.
The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) said that around three kilogrammes of explosive had been used in the attack.
Jan’s personal secretary Qasim Jan confirmed to The Express Tribune that he was completely safe along with the other passengers.
