NOWSHERA:

Two more bodies were found in gunny bags in the suburban area of Pashtun Garhi in Pabbi, Nowshera district on Thursday.

Residents informed the police about the bodies after which officials shifted the deceased to the hospital for identification. Following the incident, residents organised a protest and blocked Grand Trunk Road for a brief period. They said bodies are frequently found dumped in the area, which highlights the incompetence of authorities concerned.

Muhammad Naeem, resident of Angoor Koorana Zareef Agra, Peshawar, was among the dead. An official of the Pabbi police station said Naeem was 26 years old and his body was found at 7am.

Nearly six hours later, at close to 1:30pm, another body was found from the same area. There was a note found in the clothes indentifying the deceased as Haq Nawaz, a resident of Muzaffargarh.

The police official said this was the third such incident in a week. A woman’s body, with brutal signs of torture, was found dumped in the same area two days ago.

On Wednesday, two bodies were found dumped in Prang, Charsadda.

Suo motu notice was taken on the matter by the Peshawar High Court (PHC) on August 16 last year after more than 40 bodies were found in gunny bags in Peshawar and other parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
