Violence roundup: Three city wardens, eight others killed in the city

Karachi was hit with violence yet again on Thursday as eight people, including three city wardens, were killed within hours and three bodies were found from parts of the city.
The city wardens, Rao Shahid, Farooq and Sadiq, were gunned down at a check post near the Fatimid Hospital. The wardens were on duty when four unidentified armed men on motorcycles opened fire on them. They were immediately shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital but could not survive their injuries.
A pedestrian, Imran, was also injured in the incident and shifted to the hospital for treatment. Sheraz, 38, who police believed was affiliated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Kashmir Committee, was gunned down at his shop, Rafa Traders, in Federal B Area. Fahad, 14, was also injured during the shooting and rushed to the hospital.
Following the incident, unidentified men started aerial firing and forcibly shut down businesses and shops in the area.
Separately, an unidentified 25-year-old man was shot dead at the Superhighway. Police said that the victim appeared to be a Pukhtoon. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
In Orangi Town’s sector 11 1/2, 32-year-old Muhammad Akhtar was killed while on his way home. In a clash between two groups at Khameeso Goth, 35-year-old Akraam and 30 year-old Irshad alias Gullo were gunned down while two others, Rizwan and Usman, were critically injured.
Bodies found
Police found the tortured body of a 25-year-old man near Memon Mosque. His identity has yet to be ascertained. Another body of a 40-year-old man was found in a gunny bag near the Nusrat Bhutto Colony by the Shahra-e-Noor Jehan police.
Separately, the body of 28-year-old Farooq Shah was found near the Shah Faisal drain river. Police said that the victim hailed from Kohat and was a resident of Landhi Muzafarabad Colony.
The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for an autopsy.
