Parliamentary board session: PML-N begins screening out poll aspirants

Party officials to take two more days to finalise names of final candidates.

Former prime minister and head of his own faction of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday began a round of crucial meetings of his party’s central parliamentary board.


Nawaz and his senior aides have started to summarise the minutes of the meetings which they held in the last two weeks with hundreds of party ticket aspirants. Out of several candidates who applied for the party ticket, one name has been short listed and finalised.

The party’s leadership will take two more days to finalise the candidate’s name for the forthcoming election.

Sources close to the PML-N revealed some of the names finalised for a party ticket in Faisalabad district. Ghulam Rasool Sahi from NA 75, Talal Chaudhry NA 76, Asim Nazir NA 77, Rajab Baloch NA 78, Shahbaz Babar from NA 79, he is the son of late Ch Sharif Gujjar, Raza Nasrullah Ghuman from NA 80. Dr Nisar from NA 81, Mian Manan from NA 83, Abid Sher Ali from NA 84 and Akram Ansari from NA 85.

For provincial assembly seats, PP 51 Azad Ali Tabassum, PP 52 Afzal Sahi, PP 54 Rai Haider Salahuddin, PP 55 Rana Shoaib Adrees and from PP 56 Sikandar Jatoi.

PP 57 Khalid Wattoo, PP 58 Shahid Khalil Noor, PP 60 Rao Kashif Rahim, PP 62 Nasrullah Ghuman, PP 64 Kashif Randhawa.

PP 69 Mian Tahir Jameel, PP 70 Rana Sanaullah Khan and PP 71 Malik Nawaz.
