Violent crime: Five killed, two injured in family disputes

A woman and her aunt were shot dead on Tuesday allegedly by the woman’s ex-husband in Agu Bhandar, Gujranwala.


Aimanabad police said that Naureen Bibi had filed a complaint against her ex-husband Amir for not paying child support.

On Tuesday, police said, Amir and some accomplices broke into Naureen Bibi’s home and shot her. Her aunt Mumtaz Bibi was also hit and died on the spot. A neighbour, who claimed to have seen Amir and his accomplices flee, went in and discovered the bodies. She informed the police.

The bodies were sent for a post-mortem examination. Police say they are looking for Amir.

In Multan, a man was arrested for killing his wife. Police also arrested two of his nephews on charges of helping him.

Police said the woman, 24, was found dead at her home in Gulshanabad. Her husband, Adnan, had told police that she had committed suicide by shooting herself in the head. However, after the woman’s family nominated him for murder, police arrested him and his nephews Rameez and Owais.

The body had been sent for a post-mortem examination.

Elsewhere, a woman was strangled allegedly by her husband in Chak 61-DB near Yazman.


Police said they were looking for the husband, who was missing.

The woman’s family told police that Pir Waryam often quarrelled with her.

They said he had twice sent her to her parents’ house following arguments between them, but had later reconciled.

On Tuesday, they said, they quarrelled again over her attending a wedding that ended in him beating her.

They said she called her parents to ask to be taken away. When they reached her house, they said, she was lying dead. They said there were bruises around her neck suggesting that she had been strangled.

A case has been registered. The body had been sent for an autopsy.

A man was fatally shot and two others were injured over an old enmity in Jhaverian, Sargodha.

Police said Muhammad Naeem, his father Munawwar Hussain and friend Muhammad Hasnain of Dhadian Sharif village were on their way to a court in Shahpur, when Nazar Muhammad, Muhammad Abid, Muhammad Irfan, Kamran and three others opened fire at them near Ghangwal village and fled.

Naeem died on the spot and his father and the friend were injured. Some passers-by took them to a hospital, where doctors treating them said that they were now out of danger.
