The Punjab caretaker government announced a two-day weekly off in all public institutions across the province to combat the ongoing energy crisis, Express News reported on Tuesday.

On Monday, the Faisalabad Electricity Supply Company (FESCO) amended the load shedding schedule for the city, following a heated debate with several traders and industrialists.

The Anjuman-i-Tajran also gave the FESCO 24 hours to end unscheduled load shedding in commercial areas, after which they would protest in front of the FESCO headquarters.

In Rahim Yar Khan, at least 300 protesters broke into the Water and Power Development Authority’s (WAPDA) Complex in Rahim Yar Khan and damaged office property. They were protesting against long hours of outages in the city. Some areas of the city have been facing 18-hour outages a day.
