KARACHI:
The Election Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday released details it received from different state institutions for scrutiny of nomination papers.

The data included information provided by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

According to the information, the SBP has no record of an overdue or amount written off for former president Pervez Musharraf, Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif, former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, PML-N leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan.

The documents provided by the FBR show the amount of taxes paid by all of the above mentioned leaders except Musharraf. The document for the former president showed empty “Taxes paid” section.

The NAB also gave clean chit to these politicians as the information provided by the bureau to the ECP stated that “no information about any conviction or plea bargain or willful loan default exists.”

There, however, was an additional remark on Nawaz’s document, which stated: “a reference no. 11/2001 of Wilful Loan Default Case is pending with Accountability Court no IV, Rawalpindi. The High Court has granted the stay and quashment petition filed by the individual is still pending with High Court.”
