Politics, quarrels and extortion: MQM activist, two others gunned down
Violence in the city creates panic among citizens.
KARACHI:
Three people were gunned down in separate incidents of violence in the city on Friday.
A man, 35-year Dilawar Khan, son of Muhammad Khan, was killed in Orangi Town Sector 8 ½ near Gabol Park. An unidentified armed rider sprayed him with bullets and fled from the scene. The police said that the victim was a senior activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and an employee of the Sindh Health Department. His body was moved to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy. Following the shooting, panic gripped the area and unidentified men forcibly closed down shops and other businesses.
In another incident, 22-year old Shahid Kachi, son of Ghulam Hussain Kachi, was killed in Kachi Para near Bismillah hotel. Police said that Shahid was shot dead by his friend, Iqbal, after both of them quarrelled. Police have registered the case.
Separately, an owner of a decoration shop fell prey to target killing in Soldier Bazaar. Police said that Abdul Salam was sitting inside his shop when he was killed and cited failure to pay extortion as the reason behind his murder. The body was sent to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
