PESHAWAR:

A woman was brutally killed and her daughter injured by unidentified men who attacked them with an axe in Defence Officers Colony Thursday morning.

The police said Sardar Khan had gone to the mosque to offer prayers, leaving his wife Khalida Bibi and daughter Amna Bibi alone at home. Upon Khan’s return, he found his wife and daughter lying in a pool of blood.

Amna, who was critically injured, was rushed to a hospital. She was unable to speak due to the trauma, but the police are hoping she will recover and help identify the culprits.

Their servant, Khan Muhammad, a resident of Mardan, went mysteriously missing following the incident. The police speculated Muhammad was either involved or had fled out of fear.

“Attackers did not touch the valuables in the house,” said an official of the local police station.
