SUKKUR: Three members of the Mahar family, including Sardar Ali Gohar Mahar and his younger brother, Ali Nawaz aka Raja Mahar, will be contesting the elections for NA-201, PS-6 and PS-8 with the Pakistan People’s Party and have been awarded party tickets.

The family has allegedly been holding meetings with a number of other candidates to form alliances for the elections.

They also attempted to win over Sardar Mumtaz Pitafi, who is contesting the elections for PS-8 Khangarh with Pakistan Muslim League-Functional, during a meeting on Wednesday.

Pitafi refused, however, to withdraw his candidature in favour of the Mahar family.
