Election 2013: ECP accepts Pervaiz Elahi's nomination papers

Commission directs PML-Q leader to pay his dues for the Parliament Lodges by April 7.

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has accepted the nomination papers filed by Pakisan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Express News reported on Thursday.

Elahi had filed nomination papers for NA 105 in Gujrat.

The commission – after the scrutiny – asked the PML-Q leader to pay his dues for the Parliament Lodges by April 7.

Background

On February, Elahi was elected unopposed as the president of the PML-Q

In 1993, Elahi was elected Deputy Opposition Leader in Punjab assembly and also acted as Leader of the Opposition. He was elected unopposed Speaker of Punjab Assembly in 1997.

Elahi was also the chief minister of Punjab from 2002 to 2007.

@liaqat ali: I'm assuming you weren't in Punjab or Pakistan for the last 5 years OR you simply don't know the meaning of corruption?

His Govt was the most corrupt ever.If people like him and Musharraf are eleigible and pass the article 62 /63 ,then nation should be spared this agony of everyday tamasha of checking nomination papers.All of us are eligible then.
