Pims Chief Restrained: New administrator takes charge
New appointment came after IHC passes restraining order against Executive Director, who was appointed illegally.
ISLAMABAD:
Dr Iqbal Memon has temporarily taken charge as administrator of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims).
One of the most senior staff members of the hospital, he is serving as the head of the anaesthesia and surgical intensive care department.
He was appointed after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) passed a restraining order against Executive Director (ED) Riaz Ahmed Warraich in response to a petition filed by Joint ED Dr Altaf Hussain who had challenged his appointment earlier this year, citing he was appointed illegally.
The appointment of ED Riaz Ahmed Warraich who was previously serving as the head of the Oral and Maxillo-facial Surgery Department at King Edward Medical University was strongly condemned by some the staff.
Dr Memon will continue to serve as the administrator till the IHC announces its final verdict in the case.
