CJ takes notice of alleged multi-billion corruption by Gilani, Ashraf
SC registrar office claims 450 illegal CNG licenses were issued during Gilani's tenure, 200 in Ashraf's tenure.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has taken notice of the alleged multi-billion corruption carried out by former prime ministers Yousaf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervaiz Ashraf in their respective tenures, Express News reported on Monday.
The notice was taken after the Supreme Court registrar office submitted a note to the chief justice.
The note claimed that 450 illegal CNG licenses were issued during Gilani’s tenure and 200 in Ashraf’s tenure – several of these were issued to their relatives. Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has also been pressurised by the former premiers to issue illegal licenses, the note added.
Alleged corruption was also carried out in around 42,000 CNG cylinders which were imported to the country, the note stated.
A three-member bench will take up the case on April 3.
