ECP asks for two helicopters to dispatch voters’ lists to Balochistan

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has requested the military to provide two helicopters for delivering voters’ lists into certain areas of Balochistan, Express News reported on Monday.
A summary has been sent to the military leadership in this regard.
ECP Additional Secretary Muhammad Afzal Khan told the media that the voters’ lists and ballot papers will be sent to Balochistan via helicopters and a C-130 aircraft.
Last week, the army gave final approval to its plan of providing security to ECP to ensure free, fair and peaceful general elections on May 11 – the day of polling.
The final plan, which includes the number of soldiers that will be deployed across all sensitive polling stations, will be made public after another round of talks between military and electoral authorities.
ECP had sought the army’s help in the wake of reports that militant groups could potentially disrupt the election process.
