Celebration: ‘Easter is a day of triumph over sin and death’

Churches across the city celebrated Easter with traditional zeal and fervor on Sunday. Large congregations took place at Cathedral Church on The Mall and Saint Anthony’s Church on Lawrence Road.
Food stalls were set out at churches. The celebrations started with a morning mass at churches. The churches opened at 10:30am. Christians prayed for peace and progress of the country. The churches were decorated.
Reverend Shahid Miraj of Cathedral Church said Easter is a day of victory and triumph over sin and death. He said Jesus was crucified but God raised him from the dead. “Jesus was triumphant over the forces of evil and darkness,” he said. Parks and the zoo received many visitors as people celebrated Easter.
