Violating curfew: Four injured in North Waziristan

Security force, on the basis of suspicions, fired mortar shells near Esha check post.

MIRANSHAH: Four people were severely injured when their vehicle was attacked in Speen Waam tehsil of North Waziristan Agency on Sunday.

According to details, four tribesmen who were on their way home in a pick-up during the curfew came under fire from a gunship in Zarah Mela area of the tehsil and were severely injured. Their vehicle was completely destroyed in the shelling.

The curfew in the agency is relaxed from 7am-5pm every day, but the political administration officials announced on Sunday that the curfew would not be lifted due to the movement of security forces. The tribesmen were told to restrict to their houses and avoid coming out on the main routes of the agency. Hundreds of vehicles loaded with passengers remained stranded on Bannu-Miranshah check post waiting for the curfew to be lifted.

Meanwhile, security force, on the basis of suspicions, fired mortar shells near Esha check post, however, no casualties were reported in the incident.
