Religious parties Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Muttahida Dini Mahaz (MDM) Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) and Jamaat-e-Ishaat-e-Tauheed Wa Sunnah (JITS) have decided to contest the polls from one platform.

JI provincial chief Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Khan held a meeting with JUI-S provincial chief Maulana Yousaf Shah and JITS provincial chief Maulana Abdur Rahman along with other religious scholars in Darul Uloom Panjpir, Swabi.

Addressing a press conference, the politicians said they had joined hands to avoid rifts in religious parties and secure the nation from “anti-state elements.”

Professor Ibrahim said that in the past few years the peace of the region had been ruined, while mosques and seminaries were destroyed. “We know people rely on us and we cannot let their hopes down.”
