
He was speaking during a meeting with Corps Commander Karachi Lt-Gen Shahid Iqbal at the CM House on Tuesday. “Together, the civil and armed forces will arrange for security for flood survivors as well,” he promised. The meeting reviewed the losses and damages incurred by Sindh due to the recent floods and discussed measures that can be applied for the rehabilitation and security of flood-affected people.
The corps commander told Shah that various organisations had supplied around 8,500 tons of relief goods. He also discussed issues relating to distribution of relief goods and gave his suggestions in this regard.
“Efforts are being made to get to those areas where relief goods have not reached yet,” Iqbal told the chief minister.
Shah said that the Sindh government has formed a relief committee under the additional chief secretary that is working and coordinating the relief work, which is being carried out by NGOs, foreign aid bodies and others for the flood survivors in the province.
The chief minister lauded the relief efforts being carried out by armed forces and other institutions.
