Aisam and Rojer march into Sony Open finals

MIAMI: Pakistan’s Aisamul Haq Qureshi and his Dutch partner Jean-Julien Rojer marched into the finals of the Sony Open tennis championship on Friday, Express News reported.

Aisam and his partner won against the Spanish pair of Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez with a score of 6-3 and 6-2.

In the quarter-finals of men’s doubles category of this ATP Masters tournament, the fifth seeded Aisam-Rojer defeated the pair of Oliver Manarch of Austria and Nicolas Almagro of Spain, ranked 49 and 12 respectively, 7-6(5), 6-4.

The final will played on Saturday, March 30.

In the women’s category Maria Sharapova will battle for a place in the final against 22nd-seeded Serbian Jelena Jankovic. Former world number one Jankovic defeated Italian Roberta Vinci 6-4, 6-7 (6/8), 6-3.
