Food department : Authority should improve performance

PESHAWAR: Acting Provincial Minister for Food and Agriculture Jahangir Tareen directed officials of the Food Department to utilise all their energies for improving performance of the department further and to provide relief to the masses.

He issued these directives after being briefed about the performance of the department soon after taking charge of the portfolio as the minister for food and agriculture.

Secretary Food Department Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Sahibzada Fazal Amin, Director of the Food Department Muhammad Anwar Khan and other officials of the department were in attendance.

Amin informed the chair that the food department stores wheat stock, controls prices of edible items and keeps check over quality of the food.

Moreover, he went on to add that in case of artificial shortage of food items, the department takes legal action under the relevant Act.
