Local gems: ‘Pakistani literature should be projected the world over’
Experts feel Pakistan produces good literature but has no means of promoting it.

Literature knows no boundary and it can be trusted as a true representative of any culture. This was stated by Dr Aslam Syed, a noted writer and intellectual, at a ceremony held at the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) here on Tuesday, according to a press release issued by the academy.
PAL has the responsibility to introduce literature produced in Pakistani languages to the world, the guest speaker said. The event, organised by the PAL in his honour, was attended by a number of writers, scholars and intellectuals from the twin cities.
Ashfaq Saleem Mirza, Yasir Jawad, Asghar Abid, Nighat Saleem and others put questions to the scholar.
Dr Syed further said that there is no doubt that we are producing significant literature but the only problem is that we do not have any effective mechanism to promote them worldwide.
