MIRANSHAH:
The curfew in North Waziristan continued for the third consecutive day on Monday, with residents paying a heavy price for the new restrictions.

More than a hundred students in Bannu and Miranshah missed their matriculation exam for Chemistry because they could not reach their examination centres.

After the suicide blast on Miranshah’s Esha checkpoint, which killed 17 security officials and injured another 40, political administration officials imposed a curfew in the area and made an announcement from mosques that all tribesmen should keep to their houses.

Shoot-at-sight orders were given to troops after which business activities along with educational institutes were closed.

Moreover, nearly 350 vehicles with hundreds of passengers have been stranded since two days on the Bannu-Miranshah Road.

Owners of vehicles loaded with fruits and vegetables among other edible items also said they are facing severe losses.

Nomination papers

Candidates wanting to contest elections from North Waziristan were told to submit their applications till Sunday, but they were unable to do so because of the curfew.
