LAHORE:

Special prayers were arranged on Sunday at churches across the city to observe Palm Sunday.

Churches were decorated with date leaves. Special songs and tableaus were performed. “A special morning prayer was held in Cathedral Church. Kids presented songs and tableaus to observe Palm Sunday. According to Christian tradition, this marks the Sunday when Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) entered Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover feast before he was crucified. The people of the city welcomed him as a king of peace,” said Pastor Shahid Miraj of Cathedral Church.

“Jesus is the prince of peace. He promoted peace and love wherever he went and this is the message of Palm Sunday. If your enemy is hungry, feed him, if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. This gesture of love and forgiveness promotes peace and love among people,” Miraj added.

Pastor Zafar Gill, who leads prayers at a Youhanabad church, said the sacred week would start Monday. “All week, prayer services are arranged at smaller churches. A big service is organised on Good Friday when hundreds of people participate in congregations,” he said.
