Following the Supreme Court's order, police on Saturday registered a case against chief of the outlawed Peoples Amn Committee (PAC), Uzair Baloch and notorious gangster Noor Mohammad aka Baba Ladla and others for kidnapping and killing Lyari's mafiosi Arshad Pappu.

An FIR No. 23/13 under Sections 302, 365, 393-34 and 109 was registered at Lyari’s Kalakot police station on behalf of Pappu’s wife Asma.

The complaint identified PAC chief Uzair Baloch, his brother, Zubair Baloch, chief operational commander of the slain Rehman Dakait gang, Noor Mohammad aka Baba Ladla, his brother, Zahid Ladla and other alleged gangsters, Asif Kana, Faisal Pathan, Yasir Pathan, Zakir Dada and Sheraz Comrade as culprits. The complainant also added the names of chief of the Friends of Lyari Habib Jan and a former Union councilor of Lyari, Shahjahan Baloch in the FIR, stating that the kidnapping and killing took place on the behest of Jan and Shahjahan Baloch.

Pappu’s wife further stated that her husband and brother-in-law Yasir Arafat, had been abducted from a residential flat in Defence between March 16 and 17 when she along with her husband and others went there to attend a family gathering. She said that the armed men also took her minor son with them but later released him, adding that it was her son who identified the culprits.

The complainant further said that after kidnapping the victims, the perpetrators took them away to Lyari where they brutally tortured them before killing her husband and brother-in-law.

District south police chief DIG Shahid Hayat while talking to The Express Tribune confirmed that the police report had been lodged and that the listed suspects had been named in the FIR. Hayat added that they would arrest the culprits soon.

PAC denies being involved

PAC leader Zafar Baloch told The Express Tribune that the PAC men were not behind the kidnapping and killing of Pappu.

Rather, he said that those people whose family members were killed by Pappu, had killed the gangster.
