‘High Transport Fare’: Students turn hooligans

Several students travelling from Sahiwal to Gujranwala refused to pay the fare charged by van driver.

SAHIWAL: College students commuting between Sahiwal and Gujranwala on Wednesday blocked Sargodha-Jhang Road over a dispute regarding the fares charged by transporters, police told The Express Tribune.

Several students travelling from Sahiwal to various colleges in Gujranwala refused to pay the fare charged by van drivers on the route.

Some of them smashed the windows of a Hiace van and beat the van driver Ali Akbar and conductor Khurram Shehzad and injured them.

Transporter Rana Ejaz Ahmed filed a complaint with city police against 22 students involved in injuring the driver and conductor and damaging vehicles.
