A spring festival started at the Divisional Model College on Wednesday.

It was inaugurated by Commissioner Ejaz Munir.

Munir said that fairs and festivals were an important part of a culture. He said that people should not forget their culture. They should rather strive to enrich it.

He said spring was his favourite season as it brought freshness and lively activities.

Director (Colleges) Rana Munawwar Khan said that programmes like the spring festival played an important role in promoting love and peace among the youth.

Shaishta Mubeen, one of the second-year students, said that such events gave students an opportunity to take a break from their hectic academic routine. She said she was happy that the college organised the festival for the students.

“I take it as an opportunity to celebrate spring with my friends,” she said.

The students presented tableaus and skits and musical performances, a gymnastic show and a mini circus were also held.
