Justice (retd) Tariq Parvez takes oath as interim K-P CM

Shaukatullah Khan dissolved the provincial assembly on Tuesday and administered the oath on Wednesday.

PESHAWAR: Justice (retd) Tariq Parvez Khan took oath as the interim Chief Minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Wednesday, Express News reported.

The oath was administered by the former K-P governor Engineer Shaukatullah Khan in Peshawar.

After taking oath, Khan told the media that he would work for "There to be peace, brotherhood, and tolerance."

Shaukatullah Khan, on the advise of then chief minister  Amir Haider Khan Hoti, dissolved the provincial assembly on March 19.

On March 15, former Chief Minister Hoti and Opposition Leader Akram Khan Durrani had unveiled Justice (retd) Tariq Pervez as the interim chief minister.

Justice (retd) Tariq Parvez was a lawyer prior to his nomination. He had also served as the acting governor of then North West Frontier Province in December 2005, September and December 2006 and June 2007.

The people of KP have shown to be among the best electors, as they are not afraid to try new parties, new candidates, and are not heistant to throw out non-performing legislators, may Allah reward their diligence and patience.

Well done! KPK turns out to be politically most mature to lead from the front followed by Sindh, while one province is still wrangling with Mein na manoon. The latter also reminds us why for the two three decades after independence, we couldn't get our constitution.
