Lights off: Sindh declared Earth Hour province
Environment secretary asks people of Sindh to join provincial government, WWF-P in observing Earth Hour 2013.

Sindh has been declared an Earth Hour province by members of the environment and alternate energy department and the World Wide Fund for Nature-Pakistan (WWF-P) on Tuesday.
Environment secretary Mir Hussain Ali asked the people of Sindh to join the provincial government and WWF-P in observing Earth Hour 2013 on March 23, from 8:30pm to 9:30pm. He explained that changing people’s attitudes towards the environment was essential to creating a better future. “Thirty-six private investors are working on new energy projects which will generate 2,000 megawatts of electricity by 2015,” he added.
The director of Environmental Protection Agency, Waqar Hussain Phulpoto, spoke about the history of celebrating the Earth Hour in Pakistan and across the globe. He also called on NGO’s, corporate sector and the media to make Earth Hour 2013 more successful than the previous ones.
