Both the parties agreed that Justice (retd) Zahid, a former Sindh High Court judge, was neutral and senior-most amongst all the candidates.
The decision is expected to be formally announced during a press conference scheduled for later in the day, the sources added. During the press conference, the Sindh governor is also expected to announce the dissolution of Sindh Assembly.
Leaders from the PPP, led by Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, and the MQM, led by Sardar Ahmed Shah, met at the Governor House on Monday but could not evolve consensus on the caretaker chief minister.
The provincial chief minister also sent a summary to Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad for the dissolution of the assembly.

There must be something fishy. only time will tell. How can they agree on the name of a person who is considered as a good person? There is definitely deep politics behind this agreement.
That's a great idea to leave government 15 days before term ends and get to negotiate caretakers as opposition, wow!
