Accused DPO to appeal before ATC today
Former district police officer Waqar Ahmad Chohan will be produced before an Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) in Gujranwala on Monday for bail.
He will be presented before ATC Special Judge, Rana Nisar, in court no 2.
Chohan has been accused of negligence and for failing to stop the merciless lynching of teenage brothers, Mughees and Mubeen Butt, on August 15 in Buttar.
According to police officials, 21 suspects, including the prime accused SHO Rana Ilyas, have been shifted from the Sialkot District Jail to Gujranwala Central Jail on the orders of the Punjab government, whereas Chohan and the main accused Shafiq remain in Sialkot District Jail.
Meanwhile, the second autopsy of the teenage brothers will be carried out under the supervision of a special medical team on September 23.
Previously, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry expressed dissatisfaction over the first post-mortem.
A second post-mortem was scheduled to be held on September 14, but a local court deferred this on a petition filed by the victims’ family who expressed dissatisfaction over the local medical board, saying that all the local doctors who conducted the first post-mortem were also on the board to conduct the second one.
