Transfers, postings: Major reshuffle in Sindh police

Sindh CID head posted as Karachi police chief; DIGs of Sukkur, Larkana, also changed.

There was a major reshuffle in the Sindh police on Friday as Karachi got a new police chief and two operational deputy inspectors general (DIGs).


The DIGs of Sukkur, Larkana, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas were also replaced. The notifications issued Friday gave no reason for the immediate transfers.

Sources privy to the matter told The Express Tribune that the provincial government has ordered wide scale transfers and postings in Sindh police. More reorganisation in the department is expected before the end of assemblies and before the sitting ministers lose their executive powers.


According to the notification, Additional IG, CID Sindh Ghulam Shabbir Shaikh has been transferred and posted as Additional IG of Karachi. Shaikh replaces Iqbal Mehmood, who has been transferred and posted as the new chief of the CID Sindh in place of Shabbir Shaikh.

Zafar Abbas Bukhari has been transferred and posted to the new chief of the district west police in place of DIG Javed Odho who has been transferred and posted as DIG for Sukkur region. Captain (retd) Tahir Naveed has been posted as new chief of the district east police and DIG Akram Naeem Bharoka who had an additional charge of district east police was transferred as DIG Hyderabad.

Sain Rakhio Miran was posted as DIG Larkana, Abdul Khaliq Shaikh as new chief of the traffic police Karachi, Amir Ahmed Shaikh as DIG Admin Karachi, Imran Yaqoob Minhas as DIG Headquarters Sindh Police and Sanaullah Abbasi as DIG Rapid Response Force.

Iqbal Dara was posted as new chief of the Forensic Division of the Sindh police in place of AIG Munir Shaikh who has now been posted as DIG Mirpurkhas.
