NA demands India hand over Afzal Guru's body
Afzal Guru surfaces as National assembly passes a resolution seeking support from the UN for Kashmir.

The National Assembly passed a resolution on Thursday demanding the Indian government hand over the body of Kashmiri separatist Afzal Guru to his family for a proper burial.
This issue was raised when the assembly unanimously passed a resolution seeking support from the United Nations (UN) and the international community to help Kashmir use its right to decide its future.
Guru was allegedly found guilty of conspiring with and sheltering the militants who attacked the parliament building in New Delhi. He was also held guilty of being a member of the banned group Jaish-e-Mohammed.
The resolution was moved in the house by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman at the end of his farewell speech in National Assembly.
"This House demands that India should stop brutal actions against Kashmiris and atrocities inflicted on innocent people who were protesting the execution of Kashmiri leader Afzal Guru," the resolution stated.
The resolution also called upon the Indian government to lift the curfew from occupied Kashmir, ensure freedom of media and allow the people to freely practice their religion.
The house resolved that Pakistan will continue to extend political, moral and diplomatic support to Kashmir.
The resolution emphasized that the Kashmir issue was not an internal affair of India. It said the international community and the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) should not remain oblivious to the issue.
