'Police encounter': TTP member killed in Karachi

Three of his accomplices managed to flee.

Police – who raided the area on a tip-off – met resistance as the suspect opened fire at the security personnel.

KARACHI:
A Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) member was killed in an alleged police encounter in Manghopir, Karachi on Thursday.

TTP Manghopir chief Qari Bilal, 33 - son of Daraz Khan - was killed allegedly in an encounter within the remit of Manghopir police station.

The body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.


Police – who raided the area on a tip-off – met resistance as the suspect opened fire at the security personnel. However, the attacker was subsequently killed.

Station House Officer Ashfaq Baloch said the man was shot four times and died on the spot, while three of his accomplices managed to escape.

DIG Javed Odho, while speaking to The Express Tribune, said they had carried out the raid following the murder of Rehman but it remains unclear if the TTP men were behind it.
