The driver of a truck transporting Nato supplies to foreign troops in Afghanistan was injured when unidentified militants opened fire at him in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency on Wednesday.

Line officer Haji Khandad Afridi confirmed the incident, adding the driver was shot twice from an AK-47 rifle in Shagai area at around 11am, leaving him severely injured. Sayed Mehmood was taken to Jamrud Civil Hospital where doctors referred him to the Hayatabad Medical Complex.

Khandad said a large contingent of khasadar officials rushed to the site, surrounded the area and launched a search operation soon after. He added two suspects identified as Salamat Khan and Siraj Khan have been arrested and weapons were also seized from their possession.
