KARACHI:

President Asif Ali Zardari has said that an alliance between coalition partners like the Muttahida Quami Movement, Pakistan Peoples Party and Awami National Party can only develop in a province like Sindh.

“Such a unique alliance made the province more prosperous and stable,” the president said while inaugurating different schemes at the Chief Minister House on Tuesday. “Non-state actors could have created a worst situation if the government had not followed the reconciliation policy”.

“We foiled all conspiracies from day one by forming an alliance with our partners,” said President Zardari adding that there was a need to strengthen civilian forces to bring peace in the country. “In the future, we will focus on how to strengthen our security by allocating more funds for this purpose,” he pledged.

He said several development projects were being initiated in different districts of Sindh, however, this time around focus would be given to Karachi. “We believe a safe and secure Karachi is vital for economic development because the city can bear the burden of the whole country.”

He also lauded ANP’s decision to rejoin the Sindh government and said the government had completed a number of development schemes and projects because of support from its coalition partners.
