Ticket Tiff: ANP district leader quits party
ANP is negotiating with other parties but has not formed any alliances as yet.
CHARASADDA:
Awami National Party’s (ANP) District Vice President of Charsadda Suleman Khan resigned from the party over ticket allocation on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media, Suleman, who is the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) chief minister’s brother-in-law, accused K-P law minister Arshad Abdullah of “malpractice and corruption”.
Suleman said he will decide his future course of action after he consults “friends” and will then see if he will join another party.
ANP District Charsadda General Secretary Qasim Ali Muhammadzai confirmed Suleman’s resignation and said the latter had been unhappy about the allocation of party ticket to Abdullah to contest elections from PK-18.
Responding to a question, Muhammadzai said MPA Taimoor Khan of Tangi has not resigned from ANP and met party president Asfandyar Wali Khan on Tuesday. Taimoor assured the leader of his affiliation with the ANP, but said he does not plan to contest the elections.
Although the ANP is negotiating with other political parties, there is no alliance as yet, maintained Muhammadzai.
