KARACHI:

Three children died and four others injured as the roof of their house fell on them Sunday evening. The incident took place in a slum in North Nazimabad, within the jurisdiction of the Taimuria police station.

Volunteers from welfare organisations, firefighters and law enforcers rushed to the site and rescued four people trapped under the rubble. They also managed to retrieve the bodies of three children which were sent to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital along with the injured. The deceased were identified as 9-year-old Jabbar, his 7-year-old brother Salman, and their 10-year old-cousin Bashir. The injured were identified as Hassan, Shahista, Samina and Sumaira. Declaring the building unsafe, the police has sealed the house and asked Karachi Building Control Authority officials to examine it. SP Khurram Waris said that the incident took place when a truck-load of concrete was off-loaded on the dilapidated roof of the house.
