Freak occurrence: Lightening kills two, injures six

According to a security forces official, one officer was killed and six others were injured when lightning struck two check posts in Sro Gulo and Pamaan near the Pak-Afghan border on Saturday.


The deceased was identified as Noorul Haq, an official of the Dir Scouts, while the injured included Raees Khan, Rafiq, Ashraf, Umer Daraz, Amir and Muhammad Ali. Meanwhile, in another incident, a man was killed when struck by lightning in Musa Baba, Malakand.

According to levies official Roohullah, Saleh Muhammad was on his way home in the late evening from nearby fields when a lightning bolt struck and killed him. He was shifted to district headquarters hospital by his family where doctors pronounced him dead.
