JAMRUD:
The driver of the Population Welfare Organisation (PWO), arrested by the political administration in connection with a bombing in a Jamrud hospital, allegedly committed suicide in jail on Saturday.

Assistant Political Agent Jamrud, Jehangir Azam Wazir said Muhammad Khan Afridi, a resident of Teddy Bazaar was arrested by Khasadar personnel after the explosion in Jamrud Civil Hospital on March 5. The blast injured a lady health worker and destroyed the polio centre situated inside the hospital.

Wazir claimed that during investigations the PWO driver, Afridi confessed he was involved in the bombing. He committed suicide by hanging himself in the jail today, Wazir added.

However, the deceased’s brother, Johar Khan Afridi claims no autopsy was conducted, he was handed the body and told to bury it immediately.

“There were numerous torture marks on my brother’s body,” Johar said alleging that Afridi was killed in jail.

Johar questioned why his brother would bomb the place where he worked. He alleged that when the political administration and Khasadar force were unable to arrest the culprits they made his brother a scapegoat.

He demanded the government to provide justice to his family.
