After Punjab, Sindh to regularise contractual employees too?

Information denies a decision has been taken on the matter of regularisation of employees.

The last Sindh cabinet meeting decided to leave with the parting gift of regularising all contractual employees working in different government departments including education, health, irrigation agriculture, social welfare, population and planning departments.

The cabinet meeting, chaired by chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah at the new Sindh Secretariat on Thursday decided to bring a bill by March 15 on the regularisation of contractual employees  and the CM directed the finance minister Murad Ali Shah to expedite the process to overcome the financial hitches so that a law can be made without any further delay.

However, after the meeting Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon denied that a major decision was made on regularising contractual employees. “We have also discussed the law and order situation and chief minister will in his briefing would further share the details on the assembly floor today (Friday),” he added.

The meeting was attended by more than 20 ministers belonging to Pakistan Peoples Party, Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid led by the Chaudhry brothers. According to official sources the meeting mainly discussed deteriorating law and order situation.

Additional Chief Secretary Wasim Ahmed and Additional IG (CID) Ghulam Shabir Shaikh briefed the meeting about Karachi situation in the aftermath of the Abbas Town twin blasts.


During his briefing Wasim Ahmed held the judiciary responsible for interfering in civilian government affairs.

Lyari operation

Minister for Food Nadir Magsi raised the issue of a targeted operation in Lyari by the Rangers and police on Thursday. He asked the chief secretary “why Baloch and Sindhi dominated areas are being targeted by police and law enforcement agencies.”

“If action is taken against criminals than why do you people start the operation from Lyari even though the criminals are operating in other parts of the city too,” he asked while terming the recent operation aimed at singling out Lyari.

Responding to Magsi, Ahmed referred to operation conducted in some areas where police and Rangers arrested more than 200 suspects after Abbas Town incident.
