Women’s Day: Uks, APNS launch media women awards
The Women in Media awards will be presented on March 13, at a formal ceremony in Karachi.
Uks, research and resource centre, to celebrate the International Women’s Day in collaboration with All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) announced the results of first ‘Women in Media’, awards exclusively for Pakistani women journalists, a press release said on Thursday.
The Women in Media awards will be presented on March 13, at a formal ceremony in Karachi. In the print media category, the first prize went to Razeshta Sethna of Herald and the runner-up was Imrana Komal of Roznama Express.
In the television category, first prize went to Shamim Ara Marwat of Khyber News and the runner-up was Maimona Saeed of GEO TV, Multan.
For the Radio the first prize went to Afifa Habib of Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) Bahawalpur and the runner-up was Shamim Anjum of PBC Islamabad.
In the online segment Sadia Haider of www.community.ejc.net won the first prize. Uks also announced a Life-Time Achievement Award for Zubeida Mustafa rightly described as the first woman who made and changed the news in Pakistan’s mainstream media.
