RAWALPINDI:
A man allegedly killed his three young children and committed suicide on Wednesday by ingesting poisonous pills in a hotel room in Pirwadhai. Hotel staffers found the four bodies and reported it to the Pirwadhai police.
Muhammad Shahid, who hailed from Toba Tek Singh, was in his mid-30s and had been staying at the hotel for the past three days with his daughter and two sons, hotel staff told the police.
An officer at the scene said Shahid’s wife had died 15 days back.
The police said Shahid’s oldest son was between seven and eight, the second son was around six and the daughter was four-years-old.
Police officers found a box of sweetmeats, some pills and a half-empty 1.5 litre soft drink bottle in the room. Initial investigations did not reveal any torture marks on the bodies, Pirwadhai Police Station House Officer (SHO) Khan Shabbir said.
The bodies have been sent for post mortem to District Headquarters Hospital, Shabbir said. Police have also sent food utensils found in the room for analysis.
