‘Miracle’: Woman ‘returns from the dead’

Women regained consciousness and asked the wailing women around her bed why they were crying.

An elderly woman, who had been declared dead by a medical practitioner, regained consciousness five hours later.


The medical officer at the Pasrur Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Dr Mohammad Junaid, said that it appeared that the lady had gone into a coma that was induced by a low sugar level. Her blood pressure and heart rate could had fallen so drastically that a heartbeat or a pulse could not be detected by the doctor who was called to examine her, said Dr Junaid. The woman is a relative of former MPA Chaudhry Iqbal Khokhar. At about 2 pm on Sunday, she fainted. According to her family, a doctor was called in who checked for a heart beat and declared her dead. The family started making arrangements for her burial. Around 7 pm, she regained consciousness and asked the wailing women around her bed why they were crying. The family described it as a miracle and distributed sweetmeats.
