Water quality management: Korea to build $3m institute

The KOICA has pledged a grant of $3 million for the establishment of the institute.

The ground-breaking ceremony of the National Capacity Building Institute for Water Quality Management was held at the Paskistan Council for Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) headquarters here on Monday, said a press release issued by the council. The Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has pledged a grant of $3 million for the establishment of the institute. The construction work will also be executed by the agency’s Donghbu Engineering Project Management Company. Speaking at the ceremony the chief guest Mir Changez Khan Jamali, Federal Minister for Science and Technology, thanked the Korean government for providing financial and technical support. Korean ambassador Choonjoo Choi said, “Today is an important day for Korea-Pakistan friendship as both the countries are celebrating 30th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship.” Earlier PCRWR chairman Dr Muhammad Aslam Tahir said that the new institute would impart training courses to the existing staff associated with water supply agencies as well as to the fresh entrants.”
