Malik, speaking to the media, asked the IG Sindh and the home secretary why security wasn’t kept adequate despite being provided information. “Security was only kept strict for four days.”
He lashed out against the Punjab government and said that all headquarters of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) were in Punjab and there was no Shia-Sunni conflict in Karachi.
“This is an open question for the Punjab government: How many of them [LeJ members] did you arrest? How many of their offices were closed in Jhang and Multan? What happened to their madrassa in Rahim Yar Khan?”
Malik said that there were 34 FIRs against LeJ leader Malik Ishaq and he will release them all later during the day. “Thirty men of LeJ were caught red-handed in Karachi.”
He also claimed of breaking the Taliban’s back. “They [Taliban] are at the point that they are seeking reconciliation and dialogue. It is the Punjab Taliban, also known as Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, who did it [bombings] in Quetta and now in Karachi.”
A powerful blast ripped though Abbas Town in Karachi on Sunday evening, leaving 48 people dead and over 150 injured. No group has claimed responsibility for the blast yet.

@Ali Hasan: Because Provincial Government has been able to establish better writ than federal government which has continuously failed to protect anything but their families and themselves.
Isn't Rehman Malik part of the ruling government? Why is he asking the provincial government for answers?
This man talks nonsense, we cannot wait to get rid of him.
Which party governs Sindh? PPP. From which party is the federal PPP minister? from PPP. So perhaps Rehman Malik needs to do some internal house cleaning about why the attack was not prevented if the intelligence provided was actually actionable. Either way if attack happened with PPP government in center and PP government in Sind, then PPP needs to be held accountable. Mr. MAlik's bragging is out of place.
HE should probably worry about safety of minorities in Pakistan instead of worrying about Shah Rukh Khan's safety in India when Shah Rukh himself is not one bit worried about his own safety. After all he is the interior minister of Pakistan not India.
@UFF: How about you sort it out by not voting these impotents in couple of months or by standing up against them...eh
He can only claim and provide intelligence but has never been able to stop such a sad incident from happening.
Just sort it out man, whatever it takes.
Rehman Malik and intelligence should not be used in the same sentence.
@Stranger: If it is not Taliban with anyname then who else do you think is responsible for such barbarity? when they themselves claims responsibility with a smile. For how long will you stick your head in the sand? or is it that you agree with taliban thinking.
I think its about time Rehman Malik tells us who gives him the intelligence reports. Thats the easiest way to catch them.
thats also unfair I feel.Who ever does whatever wherever, first thing we all do is blame the Taliban. for all you know these Karachi blasts are not done by them.
I am sure that the terorist had full knowledge of this day, when the police would be doing wht it is hire to do. Protect the ministers!
How about making the intelligence report public. so the citizens do not have to rely on enforcement agencies and can take care of themselves. At least the precious lifeswill be saved.
The very knowledgeable Mr. Rehman usual statement after every event. So if you knew about the event than why all the security personal busy protecting VVIP’s party and people were left alone to die. Mr. Minister its PPP government in Sind and if you and your government knew about this, than the negligence is even more criminal!!!
whatever man, one lie after another. time for them to go.
So will he now take the responsibility too for not taking any action to stop the terrorist attack?
